Yesterday at the lecture I also saw the work of Helena Lindstrom. We saw some of her work from the Leftovers collection which was nice in it’s contrast of materials and the colour palate. Ribbon is one of my favourite things and even used it as my business card for a while. So the ribbon Helena uses makes me happy. The use of silver and brush and hard plastic looking material of the heart shape with the ribbon make for a beautiful contrast. Shown above is her collection from 2007 called My Little Pony.
The way the pieces are photographed you really want to see more of the object. Which I think is good, especially for a piece of jewellery. It’s important to create some form of curiousity and mystery around an object, this way we don’t forget it and remain curious. Of course the photo can always be too vague and then you loose your audience.
